About SkyMinute
A small daily look at the sky for the next five minutes. For you, for your kids, for anyone who likes to step outside and look up.
What it does
SkyMinute tells you when to go out, where to look, and what's worth seeing tonight. It does the maths for your spot and checks the cloud forecast for the right hour, so you get one short, useful tip.
Where the data comes from
- Sky maths runs in your browser (open-source: Astronomy Engine and SunCalc).
- Cloud cover from Open-Meteo.
- Aurora chance from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center.
- ISS passes from public orbital data via Celestrak.
- Meteor showers follow the International Meteor Organization calendar.
What we believe
The sky is free. Looking up is a small good thing. We'd like SkyMinute to be a friendly nudge — tonight, tomorrow, and the night after.
